Ingredients
12 T (1 1/2 sticks) sweet butter, melted
1 c granulated sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
1 3/4 c all purpose flour
1/2 t ground cloves
1/2 t ground ginger
1 t ground cinnamon
1/2 t salt
1/2 t baking soda
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350°
2. Melt butter, add sugar and molasses, and mix thoroughly. Lightly beat egg and add to butter mixture; blend well.
3. Sift flour with spices, salt and baking soda and add to first mixture; mix. Batter will be wet. But after sitting for five minutes or so, it will thicken up enough to stand up a little and not just spread thinly over the foil The dough will actually be something you can even roll into a ball.
4. Lay a sheet of foil on a cookie sheet. Drop tablespoons of batter on foil, leaving three inches between cookies. These will spread during baking.5. Bake until cookies start to darken, 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from oven while still soft. Let cool on foil. These cookies taste better cold than hot.
